  • Saturday, 6 March, 11:00 a.m., Annual General Meeting, Wolfson Room, Institute for Historical Research, Senate House, University of London, Malet Street
    • Dr. Pamela Neville-Sington will speak on her involvement with the Trollope Society's project to restore the graves of the Trollope family in Bruges. The graves had fallen into serious disrepair and the Trollope Society worked closely with the Belgian authorities to restore them. Dr. Neville-Sington then led a group of Society members to Bruges to view the graves and celebrate their achievement. The story is both inspiring and entertaining and will feature in a BBC documentary of the project and the trip to be screened on May 2.
  • Saturday 8 May, 1:00, Browning Birthday Lunch, Durrants Hotel, George Street, London–
    • A lunch to celebrate Robert Browning's birthday will be held at Durrants Hotel. This will be a purely social occasion allowing members to meet and to introduce friends to the Society. Previous meetings held at the Hotel have been judged a great success. Please be advised that numbers must be very limited and that places will have to be allocated on a first come first served basis.
  • Saturday 15 May, 11:00
    •  Wolfson Room, Institute for Historical Research, University of London, Malet Street––‘The French Revolution on the English Stage: Henry Irving's The Dead Heart 1889', a talk by Kris Tetens, a theatre historian based in Michigan, U.S.A. Ms. Tetens was to have participated in the ‘La Prude Angleterre' conference in November 2003, but was sadly forced to cancel at the last minute because of illness. Her talk, which will include close reference to Robert Browning and his affiliation with Henry Irving, promises to be of much interest. Members of the Henry Irving Society will also attend this talk. Tickets for this event are priced at £5, which will include coffee or tea.
  • Ledbury Poetry Festival, 2-11 July, programme available 10 May
    • The Society will sponsor a reading by the well-known poet Anthony Thwaite. Anthony Thwaite has been a university teacher in Japan and Libya, literary editor of the Listener and New Statesman, and co-editor of Encounter (1973-85). He has published twelve books of poems, most recently Selected Poems 1956-1996. The reading will be held on July 7 in the evening. Specific details of the time and venue will be posted on this website as soon as they are available through the Festival office. Do note the dates of the Festival as a whole, however. It is a hugely enjoyable event and well worth a visit any time during the two weeks. Poetry related events take place throughout the year in Ledbury, organized and inspired by the enthusiastic Dr. Charles Bennett, the Festival organizer. You may be interested in one of the Poetry Talks this winter which will be on Robert Browning and Carol Ann Duffy. The Talk will take place on 25 February at the Little Room Upstairs, the Brewery Inn, Bye Street Ledbury.
  • Sunday, 12 September, St. Marylebone Parish Church
    • The Church will be unable to host a service dedicated especially to the marriage of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning this year since they are restoring their organ. The Rector has kindly offered to include special prayers and comment on the poets' marriage during the usual Sunday service on the day of their anniversary.
  • Friday, 10 December, 6:00
    • Annual Wreath-Laying Ceremony, Poet's Corner, Westminster Abbey—The annual commemoration of Robert Browning's death will take place at Westminster Abbey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday December 10th. Lord Hattersley, a life-long admirer of the Brownings, will be the Society's guest speaker. The ceremony will be held directly after the evening service at 5:00, which many of us also like to attend. Reception to follow in the Camden Room of Westminster School
